About Me
My name is Bennett, and I've been playing competitive pickleball at the 5.0+ level in both doubles and singles tournaments for over two years now. My journey into pickleball started with a strong foundation in tennis, which I played growing up. After that, I went on to play professional basketball in Europe. When I discovered pickleball, I quickly realized it was the perfect blend of strategy, quick reflexes, and athleticism, much like tennis and basketball. Now, I'm passionate about helping others improve their game and enjoy the sport as much as I do!

What my lessons are like
My approach to teaching pickleball is centered around helping players develop a solid foundation in the key areas of footwork, shot selection, speed, and consistency. I believe that footwork is the cornerstone of great play—it puts you in the right position to execute every shot with precision and control. Shot selection is just as important; understanding when and how to use different shots can completely change the momentum of a match. I also emphasize the importance of speed and movement, not just for covering the court but also for being mentally agile and anticipating your opponent’s next move. Consistency, both in practice and performance, is critical. I push my players to find their rhythm and execute the fundamentals with repeatable success. My coaching philosophy is simple: build a player's confidence by focusing on fundamentals, but also challenge them to step outside their comfort zone. I encourage smart, aggressive play while reinforcing discipline and patience when it comes to rallies. In my lessons, I break down each aspect of the game into manageable segments. I’ll often start with footwork drills, followed by shot practice where players focus on placement and decision-making. I incorporate plenty of real-game scenarios so players can apply what they've learned and improve their court awareness. The goal is always to leave each session with noticeable progress and a clear understanding of what needs to be worked on next.
How to prepare
To get the most out of pickleball lessons, players should come prepared both mentally and physically. Here are a few key ways to prepare: Warm-Up: Arrive early to do a proper warm-up. This can include light jogging, dynamic stretches, and footwork drills to get your body loose and ready to move quickly on the court. Bring the Right Gear: Make sure you have the essentials—your paddle, comfortable court shoes, water, and any other equipment you like to use during play (like wristbands or grips). Know What You Want to Improve: Think about specific areas of your game that need attention, whether it’s your backhand, dinking game, or shot consistency. Communicate these goals at the start of the lesson so we can focus on what will benefit you most. Hydrate and Fuel: Hydration is key, especially in longer lessons or sessions. Make sure you’re well-hydrated before arriving, and bring water to keep yourself fueled. Having a light snack beforehand can also help maintain energy levels throughout. Have a Growth Mindset: Come to the lesson with a positive attitude and a willingness to learn. There will be moments of challenge, but these are opportunities for improvement. Be ready to step out of your comfort zone and try new techniques. Rest and Recovery: If you're coming from intense play, try to get enough rest beforehand so you're fresh and ready to focus during the lesson.
